It amazes me how fast a year can go by. How much you, your family, your child and your life can change in one year. And how many absolutely beautiful memories can be made.
As December 13th approached, I started to get extremely emotional. My emotions ranged from excitement to sadness to stress each and every day. I was so excited that our little family made it a year, had an amazing year at that, and excited to see what the next year was going to bring us (what new things will the little lady learn and discover, what surprises and challenges will our little family face). I was sad because my baby was growing up and changing. While I love watching her grow, I’m sad that she is never going to be the little 7 pound wonder that she was a year ago. Finally, I was stressed out because she was turning one and I was planning her party and had lots to get done!
All of this emotion came to a head when the big day finally arrived. I couldn’t help but flash back to where we were a year ago every time I looked down at my watch. I’m sure I was driving my husband crazy every time I started a sentence with, “this time last year we were…” While the party was underway, we had a family moment, away from everyone, at exactly 7:16pm – the minute she was born – and it is something I cherish and will never forget. I’m glad we made a point of having that minute in time, just the three of us.
I’ll go into more detail about the party and all my projects and planning; but for now, I just want to highlight the 10 most memorable moments from Little Lady O’s first year of life!

10. Her first Packer game. While I’m not from WI, my husband is so it goes without saying that our house supports the green and gold. O enjoyed her first Packer game just three days after being born and was already throwing up the touch-down signal! GO PACK GO!
9. Her amazing sense of style.
8. Watching her bond with our four-legged fur babies, the Boston brothers; and, watching them become big, protective brothers of their new little sister!
7. Promoting our amazing parents to grandparents!
6. Watching her meet her new cousins for the first time and reminding her over and over again how unbelievably lucky she is to have two cousins so close in both age and location!
5. Her first holidays! From Christmas to Easter to the 4th of July to Halloween to Thanksgiving, this little lady was always dressed for the occasion and ready to celebrate with the family!
4. Our first family vacation which included many firsts for her – first trip up to the north shore, hiking on some of our favorite trails, visit to mom’s favorite pizzeria, and swimming!
3. Enjoying all the things MN has to offer in the fall. As mentioned in a previous post, the fall is a very special time of year for my husband and I, we have several traditions together and it was absolutely wonderful to share them all with the little lady for the first time.
2. Watching her personality grow each and every day as she learns and discovers the world around her. It’s hard to really put my finger on this, but her face lights up each time she discovers she is able to do something new (roll over, sit up, stand, walk, turn the pages of a book, pick up a toy, etc.). Seeing her physically learn and being proud of herself for it is one of the most fulfilling and rewarding experiences as a parent.
1. Baby makes 3. The day the little lady finally made it into the world and made our little family complete was hands-down, no questions asked, the top moment from the past year.
